Glass Painting in India set Limca Book of Records

Glass Painting Limca Book Records, ChennaiIn a bid to claim a spot in the Limca Book of Records in the glass art category, over 2,500 students and 120 teachers of a school on Wednesday simultaneously displayed their painting skills; each finishing their individual art work in less than an hour.

Students of Class III to XII and teachers of Velammal Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Mogappair, Chennai took on the challenge after getting trained in glass painting by experts from Pidilite Industries Ltd for just two days.

Principal of the school Stella Jebakumari said, “About 90 per cent of the students finished their glass painting in 45 minutes. Of the total 3,291 students in the school, 2,640 students took part in the challenge.” V V Murthy of the Limca Book of Records was present at the school throughout the attempt.

A school official said it was the first time ever that over 2,500 students had done glass painting at the same time.A similar record was set when 2,100 students from a school in North India simultaneously painted on paper.
