Adrenaline-pumping thrill-seekers often turn to rollercoasters for their latest fix, looking for high speed, stomach-churning loop-the-loops to satisfy their addiction. The Formula Rossa rollercoaster, the flagship ride at the brand new Ferrari World theme park, promises the thrills experienced by a Formula One racing driver while sitting in a bright red racing car along with up to fifteen other people.
Largest Amusement Park
The world’s fastest rollercoaster is part of the world’s largest amusement park and those brave enough to book a ride can experience acceleration of 0 to 60mph in only 2 seconds, a top speed of 149mph in under 4 seconds and a launch thrust of 10,000 hp as the car is propelled along the 400m covered launch area before heading outside.
As it says on the Ferrari World website, participants can expect to “scream over the track and 52 meters into the sky before flying through the chicanes, inspired from some of the most famous race tracks in the world, and across the finish line, with an adrenaline kick worthy of the Grand Prix.”
And just like in a Grand prix, riders have to wear goggles to protect their eyes from dust, all too common in this region of the Middle East.
Scary Rollercoaster Ride
Formula Rossa is sure to be a scary rollercoaster ride but is only one of 20 attractions at this enormous indoor theme park aimed at families and thrill-seekers alike. The Bell’Italia offers family fun at a more gentle pace driving in smart Italian mini cars around a garden planted with 40,000 miniature trees, or simply hop into a mini Ferrari on the park’s Carousel ride.
Not forgetting those thrills of course, there’s also G-Force, a veritable tower of speed set in the heart of the indoor park. It’s a huge crystal funnel where riders are propelled 62m into the air with the accompanying rocket-force Gs.
Amusement Park Design
Abu Dhabi’s amusement park design is intended to attract the whole family with shops and six different dining options, capable of feeding 1200 diners. Those that don’t like amusement park rides can simply gaze in awe at the sheer size of the place including the 200,000 sqm roof. The opening day is sure to attract thousands with many Formula One stars attending the opening event and, of course, posing around the theme park’s star attraction, the Formula Rossa world’s fastest rollercoaster.
Ride it if you dare!
