At 11:38 a.m., the visitor flow of the Shanghai World Expo Park reached 633,500 people, creating a new record since the Shanghai World Expo was opened. Meanwhile, the accumulated number of tourists also reached more than 64.2 million people, creating a new record in the World Expo's history.
The World Expo in Osaka, Japan hit a record on the number of visitors in 1970, reaching more than 64.2 million. The number of visitors at the Shanghai Expo Park exceeded 800,000 at around 1 p.m., 900,000 before 3 p.m. and 1 million by 6 p.m. At 9 p.m., the number was over 1.03 million.
It was not only the largest single-day passenger flow at the Shanghai World Expo but also the largest single-day passenger flow in the history of the Expo.
In order to cope with the extremely large passenger flow, the Shanghai World Expo took corresponding measures to quickly launch a contingency plan, which ensured a stable, orderly and controllable situation in the overall operation of the Shanghai World Expo Park.
Park operators maintained smooth public transportation, safety and order in pavilions, as well as the adequate supply of food, all of which received high praise from visitors. The overall operation of the Expo Park remained stable and orderly.
