1,000-litre 'All Canadian Blueberry Smoothie' officially declared "World's Largest Smoothie"
Dairy Farmers of Canada today announced it officially set a new Guinness(TM) Record for the world's largest smoothie at the Bust-a-Record Dairy Day celebration held today on Toronto's waterfront. The 1,000-litre (264-gallon) All Canadian Blueberry Smoothie was made up of 550 litres of 100% Canadian milk, 300 kg of frozen Canadian blueberries, 150 litres of Canadian vanilla yogurt and 35 litres of Canadian honey. The massive mixture was blended together in a giant 1,200-litre stainless steel bolt tank by a team of leading Canadian dairy producers.
"Setting a new Guinness(TM) World Record with the All Canadian Blueberry Smoothie is a wonderful way to celebrate our Canadian dairy producers and the purity, high quality and great taste of dairy products made from 100% Canadian milk," said Jacques Laforge, president of Dairy Farmers of Canada.
Amidst a festival-like atmosphere of cow milking, contests and fun, hundreds of Canadian milk fans braved the scorching heat to cheer on the record breaking team and enthusiastically celebrated the win by downing free samples of the world's largest smoothie.
To help commemorate breaking the Guinness(TM) World Record for the world's largest smoothie, Dairy Farmers of Canada partnered with Canadian processors from across the country. MOOV, a Quebec based company provided blueberries from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, the honey was provided by Honey Bunny, a company from Alberta, and the milk and yogurt were provided by Parmalat in Ontario. Ontario's Moonstone Mechanical provided the giant mixing tank.
