Syrian Largest Pastry Tray enters in Guinness World Records 2010

A giant Syrian pastry tray which registered at Guinness World Records is on display in Damascus, Syria, July 14, 2010. The tray which reached 112 meters long, 2 meters wide and 4 tons weight has been prepared by Al Sultan Sweet Company which is one of the Syrian traditional pastry producers in the country. It is made with phyllo dough (pastry dough), some semolina flour, nuts and ghee butter (refined butter). They are rich in flavor but soft and crunchy in texture.

A giant tray of traditional Arabic sweet pastry has been recognised by Guinness World Records as the largest of its kind.
The tray (pictured left, featuring the Syrian flag), was 112 metres long, two metres wide and weighed four tonnes. It was prepared by al-Sultan Sweets,
one of the largest traditional pastry producers in the country, for the opening of the Damascus International Fair.
The main ingredients of the giant confection were filo pastry, semolina flour, nuts and clarified butter.
Last year, al-Sultan Sweets made a one-tonne box of sweets for an international exhibition in Damascus that it dedicated to the children of the besieged Gaza Strip.
