Lebanon has entered the Guinness book of World Records, after it made the world’s biggest plate of falafel, a day after presenting the largest plate of hummus. Falafel is a local dish of Lebanon. The plate consisted of 10,452 pieces of falafel.
Lebanon had made on Saturday a 10,452 kg of hummus on a giant plate. The dish, which Israel and Lebanon both claim as their national dish, was prepared by 300 chefs. The weight of the hummus was recorded and confirmed by the representatives of the Guinness World Record. There has long been a tussle between the two countries of Israel and Lebanon to make the biggest plate of hummus. In January 2010, 50 Chefs in Abu Gosh made 4,090 kg of hummus, which was almost twice the weight of the previous record held by Lebanon. And after that, of course Lebanon didn’t take things lying down and they make their own record, which has now been verified by the Guinness Book of World Records as well.
The hummus is a very popular food in Lebanon and Israel and it is made up of chickpeas, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic and sesame paste.
