Google celebrated the Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary with an interactive doodle. Today doodle is accessible and is a full 255-level game complete with a 256th level “kill screen,” just like the original coin-op. Pac-man has been synonymous with arcade games and today it completes exactly 30 years since that voracious eponymous figure started chasing and get chased by Inky, Blinkey, Pinky and Clyde.
Pac-Man series has been awarded by Guinness World Records in Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition 2008. Among them are “Most Successful Coin-Operated Game”, “First Perfect Pac-Man Game” and the “Largest Pac-Man Game.”
The first interactive doodle of Google is the brainchild of senior user experience designer Marcin Wichary, whose earliest exposure to Pac-Man came at age five while traveling across his native Poland with his father, a game technician, to repair arcade machines. Wichary worked with Google doodler Ryan Germick to create the finished design.
