London College of Beauty Therapy Salon set Guinness World Records

Students studying at the London College of Beauty Therapy have filed and polished a combined length of 200 metres of fingernails to set a new Guinness World Record.  In total 1897 men and women, took part in the May 13th record attempt held at the college.
The new World Record - for the highest number of fie and varnishes performed over an eight hour period - was set to publicize the wide range of fun and exciting careers that are available for people in the beauty industry. It would have taken 200 metre record holder Usain Bolt 19.19 seconds to run the entire length of fingernail filed and polished on the day.

The Guinness World Record event was organised by Eileen Cavalier, OBE, Founder and CEO of the London College of Beauty Therapy, to help inspire young people to join the beauty industry. Despite the current economic environment the industry is still growing with many job vacancies available with employers in desperate need of highly trained staff.
The record attempt began at 11am with the number of volunteers peaking during lunchtime period and after work. Around 20% of those supporting the cause were men, showing their increasing awareness of the way they look. Presenting the record certificate, Jack Brock-bank, Guinness World Records Adjudicator, said: “Despite this essentially being a speed record not one of you allowed your quality to suffer.”
In excess of two litres of nail polish - donated by Mad Beauty - was used by the students working from 108 nail stations located in salons throughout the building. The event raised hundreds of pounds for the Wellbeing of Women medical health charity
