He was born into a family of stuntmen and performers but today was the day that eight-year-old Tiger Brewer earned his stripes. A thousand feet above Rendcomb Airfield in Gloucestershire, the London schoolboy became the youngest person in the world to wing-walk. Tiger, who lives in Notting Hill in West London, sped overhead at 100mph while standing on the wing of his grandfather’s biplane.
The record he demolished was set eight years ago by 11-year-old Guy Mason, son of the Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason.
The child celebrated his feat with a bag of crisps. “On take-off I was scared. From one to 10 it was probably a nine, but when I was in the air it was probably a five,” he said.
“It felt amazing, like I was on top of the world. It was cold and windy but it can’t be beat.
“You don’t have a parachute, just a pair of goggles.”
Vic Norman, his grandfather who owns a wing-walking team, was flying the plane while Tiger's sisters Star, 14, and Flame, 5, watched from the ground.
Tiger’s dad, Colin, who has legally changed his name to Happy Birthday, said: “I wasn’t scared for him physically, just emotionally.
“He was nervous and although he acts like a big man he is only eight. But he just kept repeating his mantra ’go away fear’ and he did it. He wanted to do this for years but wasn’t tall enough.”
Two independent witnesses observed the flight and will send their testimony to Guinness World Records for official confirmation of the record.
