British actors Hugh Laurie and Christopher Lee have had their status as top Hollywood stars confirmed with entries in the Guinness World Records 2009.

The latest list of record-breaking achievements, which goes on sale on Wednesday, will see 86-year-old acting veteran Lee crowned Most Connected Living Actor.

A database created by the University of Virginia mapped the working relationships between more than a million actors and actresses, and identified Lee as living "in the centre of the Hollywood universe".

London-born Lee, who has been made a CBE, was listed in the 2001 record book as the star with the most screen appearances to his name - after playing about 300 film and TV roles.

He is best-known for playing monstrous roles opposite Peter Cushing in the Hammer horror films, but more recently gained a new generation of fans with roles as wizard Saruman in the Lord Of The Rings films, and Star Wars' Count Dooku.

Hugh Laurie has seen his American hospital drama series House shoot to the top of the ratings and take the crown of Most Popular TV Show from last year's title-holder Lost.

The 49-year-old star has recently signed a new four-year deal to play grumpy doctor Gregory House, which has made him one of the highest paid actors in America - earning more than £220,000 per episode.

Samuel L Jackson has set a new world record for the Highest Grossing Actor with 68 movies earning nearly £4 billion.

The 21 Bond films earned the Highest Grossing Movie Series title, and last years Transformers film is revealed to be the Most Downloaded Movie.

According to the record book Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have become the Most Lucrative Movie Partnership ever formed, with five blockbuster hits netting £287 million.
