Mike Heard, long suffering ginga and Bungy Jumping nut, will attempt to Bungy in to Guinness World Records™ from 6am, Friday 15 August beneath the Auckland Harbour Bridge from the AJ Hackett Bungy pod.

The current record for the 'Most Bungy Jumps in 24 hours' is held by Bill Boshoff (South Africa) who performed 101 Bungy Jumps in 14 hr 23 min at Bloukrans River Bridge, South Africa, on 10 May 2002.

Mike’s love of the sport is the central reason for the attempt. “I’d like to see more people giving it a go. Bungy Jumping shouldn’t be one of those sports that you try once just to “cross off your list of things to do before you die” - people should try it once and then try it again and again and again” said Mike.

As part of his preparations, strict guidelines from Guinness must be followed, including that Mike prepare his own Bungy cord. This will be done with an official witness on Monday 4 August (media welcome).

“I love the sport and think everyone should give it a go. AJ Hackett Bungy developed the Code of practise for Bungy Jumping and have a 100% safety record and plan to keep up that high standard. I am going to prove that this sport is not only a huge rush but it is also safe” says Mike, who already has 50 jumps under his belt.

The Rock’s boss Brad King said, “It’s not something we’d usually support, so it’s a leap of faith for us . . . (see what I just did there) . . . heh”

AJ Hackett Bungy - Auckland has been working very closely with Mike to make sure his health is up to scratch and that he’s ready to smash the world record.

Mike’s attempt will also support Kids Can charity and is supported by the team at A J Hackett, The Rock and Demon Energy.
